Websites such as YouTube or Facebook are great places to share your videos. Hundred of millions of people spend a chunk of their time hanging out at those websites and depending on luck your videos could go viral at any given time.
But not all videos that we make are intended for public view. Some of us would like to keep our videos private and share it with only our intended viewers. Maybe intimate family videos or personal video messages to our loved ones not all videos should be put in the public’s view.
For those of you who want to keep on being anonymous on the World Wide Web, VideoSprout is the website for you to use. VideoSprout is a website that enables you to upload your videos and share online privately. Only the people that you’ve sent a link to your videos may view them.
VideoSprout says that you can upload almost any video format to their servers and it will play but to be on the safe side I think it would be a good idea to upload your videos in the common video formats such as .avi, .mkv, .mpeg and so on to avoid any difficulties. You may not want to record your videos back and upload them again do you?
The videos do not need to be downloaded as it streams online.
To use this free service, VideoSprout requires you have an account with them. You can either use your Facebook account or create a VideoSprout account. Personally I like to create a new account with any web service rather than login using my Facebook account. Yes, it is because I’m the paranoid type if you’re wondering. The free service offers you up to 500 views per month with 100MB of personal space which you can consume.
One last thing, the website is still in its beta stage. So as the pioneer or may I say “lab rats”, some of you may experience some bugs during your usage of the service if you’re unlucky. So I wish you the best of luck and a happy private video sharing.
